Mind-Blowing Describes the 2018 Corvette Grand Sport
The Chevy Corvette Grand Sport sits in the lineup between the Stingray and the Z06. This sports car combines the features of both the other vehicles while adding some of its own elements. The Grand Sport is essentially a track-ready Z06, and for 2018 Chevy gave it some minor updates including an upgraded backup camera and some new interior colors. Here are some of the mind-blowing features of the 2018 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport.
The Engine and Power
The Grand Sport comes standard with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 455 horsepower. Upgrade to the performance exhaust, and this increases to 460 horsepower. Chevy pairs this strong engine with powerful brakes and a manual transmission that will shift smoothly through the gears. Acceleration is quick and responsive with a zero to 60 time of 3.8 seconds with the manual transmission and 3.7 seconds with the 8-speed automatic. Take it to the track, and it will run the quarter mile in just 11.9 seconds with the automatic and 12 seconds with the manual transmission.
This version of the Corvette comes with a wider rear end than the other models in the lineup, so it takes larger high-performance tires. You can choose between a coupe or a convertible body style. The Grand Sport also has adaptive dampers and an upgraded suspension along with larger brakes than in the Stingray.
Add the Z07 Performance package for carbon-ceramic brakes, even bigger tires, and some exterior body parts to make it more aerodynamic. The convertible has an automatic top that will allow the driver to raise and lower it while traveling at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.
The Grand Sport comes in three trim levels including the 1LT, the 2LT, and the 3LT. The 1LT has an 8-inch touch screen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and satellite radio along with Bluetooth for phone and audio. Bump up to the 2LT for an upgraded Bose stereo system and a universal garage door opener. The 3LT model has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Nappa leather seats, and navigation.
Inside, the Grand Sport has comfortable seats that are softer than usual sport car seats while still providing plenty of support. There is a good amount of space for a two-seater, and both the driver and passenger have plenty of room. Chevy uses high-quality materials in the cabin, giving the car a sleek and modern look. The 1LT trim comes standard with leather seats and dual-zone automatic climate control.
This Corvette along with the other models all get a rearview camera as a standard feature along with Chevy’s OnStar telematics system. A curb-view camera comes standard with the Grand Sport 3LT, and you can also opt for a head-up display. The head-up display allows you to get important information about the vehicle and surroundings right at eye-level on the front window so you can keep your eyes on the road.
The 2018 Corvette Grand Sport combines performance and technology to give drivers the ultimate ride. Step into one today to tackle the road ahead of you.
